There are two wolves, fighting in your mind. Which wolf will win?

Each of our individual experiences of Covid lockdown are vastly different depending on our circumstances. Are we self-employed, employed, unemployed? Is our home harmonious and a safe and enjoyable place to be? We can't control our circumstances, but we can control our thoughts. Lockdown is here, whether we like it or not, rather than 'go through it', we may as well try and 'grow through it'. Here's an impactful story that can help you to take control of the wolves (thoughts) in your mind.

The pie chart of happiness concept from the book, 'The How of Happiness' by Sonya Lyubomirsky, demonstrates that 40% of our capacity for happiness is within our control. How empowering to discover that no matter what our genes, or our life circumstances, we have a large chunk of wiggle room to work with.

Mantra : I'll handle it!

Self-efficacy is a person's belief in their ability to exercise control over their own functioning or over their response to events that affect their lives. 

Self-efficacy is an antidote to fear and worry.

In her book, "Feel the fear and do it anyway", Susan Jeffers concludes that all of our fears boil down to one overarching fear - the fear that we won't be able to handle what comes our way in life. To combat this fear, Susan recommends a mantra to carry with us through each day.
